[11185] All data from R. Tibbetts. Frederick was a West Point graduate. Heserved in the A.E.F. in WWI, 12th Field Artillery, 2nd Div. After theArmistice, he was stationed on the Rhine, and in 1920 was sent home,disabled, to the Army Hospital, Denver, CO. He only lived 6 yearsafter his return.

Frederick has an AB from UOP, and Civil Engineering degree from UCBerkeley. He taught Civil Engineering at UCB, and in 1926 was workingfor the US government as a Civil Engineer. The following quote isfrom the California Monthly, Vol. 22, p.337, for Feb 1927 - "Fred H.Tibbetts is one of the leading Consulting Engineers on the PacificCoast. Tibbetts is known as the creator of the 'Netherlands' ofCalifornia thru his reclamation projects on the Lower Sacramento RiverDelta Lands. After 7 years of preparartory work as instructor at theCalifornia School of Mechanical Arts; as engineer for the Santa ClaraValley Water Co.; as Engineer in charge of the Livermore Valleyartesian investigation, and of the Pleasanton reclamation project, hebecame a member of the firm of Haviland & Tibbetts. This firm planned,reported on, and carried on the construction of Richmond Harbor, S. SFterminal, and Sacramento & Vallejo terminals. They carried out Floodcontrol, drainage and road construction for land developers from TuleLake to Portland, OR. They designed and installed sewage systems for17 sanitary districts; designed and installed water systems for 7cities, built highways and bridges, located and constructed theSacramento-Woodland RR."
Since 1917 he has had his own office, and has been Chief Engineer on 9reclamation district projects including the largest in the state. Hisstaff includes 11 UCB graduates. Also see "Who's Who in America"Vol.19, 1936-7.
