Data from Olson. William inherited his father's homestead in Lebanon,ME which he sold Aug 7 1769 (York Co., Deeds, Book 41, p. 263). He andhis family moved to Gouldsborough, ME and he enlisted there. He andhis family moved to Bangor, ME in 1779. In the History of PenobscotCo., "There were not more than a dozen buildings in the place at thetime he arrived, and there was not a church in Penobscot County". Thetown of Bangor granted him as a first settler, two lots, of 100 acreseach, numbered 17 and 87.

The History of Penobscot County and the Bangor Historical Magazine,vol. 6, p. 294, are in error in stating that he was born in England.
The Bangor Histroical Magazine, vol. 4, p. 21, is wrong in statingthat he had a son Daniel. Daniel was undoubtely a nephew who was aRevolutionary soldier from Gouldsborough who came with him to Bangor.This Daniel married the widow Margaret Potter in Bangor on Aug. 13,1789 with the Rev. Seth Noble officating.
