Chester was a Mach Operator Canning Co. in St. Louis, MO and a SignPainter in Mountain Grove, MO.
When Chester's was only about 2 years four months old his motherdied.Jan 1916
The 1920 census showed him living with his father in St Louis alongwith Nora, Marvin, and Herbert.
Chester had beautiful handwriting and was a sign painter by trade inhis later years. He also did leather tooling, he made several coinpurses, wallets and ladies handbags.
Jan 6th 1964. Chester was coming home (to Mountain Grove) fromLebanon. Mo. It was after dark. He had car trouble, his car wasstalled in the roadway. He got out and was standing bethind the cartoward the passenger side. A pickup struck him pinned him between the
pickup and his car then drug him 30 feet. Killing him, probably,instantly.
My mother and his wife, Florence told me that Chester always said hewas unlucky, He said he was the thirteenth child (of his family) andwas born in 1913. His birth certificate does show that he was indeedthe thirteenth child with 10 children living at the time of his birth.
