Notes from Aunt Evelyn. The year of their marriage could be 1764 whichwould make the Oct. 1765 birth of dau Ruth 17 months after theirmarriage and not just 7 months. The "5" on the paper is not realclear. I also changed the date of their marriage to the 28th afterstudying the 0's and 8's. If I looked at the date that Sarah was born,it looks like a 0 with a slash through it but I decided that thenumber was an 8 after looking at the birth entry for her brother,Abraham, who was evidently born in 1768.
" Know all men by these presents that I John Bassitt of Newtown in theCounty of Fairfield & Colony of Ct. in New England: for & inconsideration that my Honoured Father Thos Bassitt of ? Newtown haththis day given to me an ample Deed of Gift of Forty acres of Land onwhich his Dwelling
house, Barn, orchard ?: Stands do therefore by these presents ?,Release,lease out & put to farm to my ? Father & mother Thomas & SarahBassitt during their & each of their Naturall Lives the
