Atty. Lafferty Dies; Former City Official
G. Howard Lafferty, 71, 1715 Edgewood NE, widely-known Warren attorneyand former city solicitor and councilman here, died at 11:40 a.m.Thursday in Trumbull Memorial Hospital, following a six-year illness.
Born Sept. 2 1894, in Lenox, O., the son of George E. and AmberWescott Lafferty, Atty Lafferty had a wide circle of friends and washeld in high respect by his colleagues and all who knew him.
Quiet spoken, Mr Lafferty, who was endowed with a highly pleasingpersonality, took an active part over the years in the civic andcommunity life.
A title attorney for 30 years, he had attended Kent, Wooster and OhioState Universities, and received his law degree from Youngstown Schoolof Law in 1923.
Mr. Lafferty served as city councilman from the Third Ward from 1940to 1951 when he staged a successful campaign for the office of citysolicitor. He served as the legal counsel for the City of Warren forone term during 1952 and 1953.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Trumbull County BarAssn., American Bar Assn., Title Association of Ohio, Old Erie MasonicLodge F&A.M., and Ali Baba Grotto.
He formerly served as a trustee of Trumbull Memorial Hospital, RebeccaWilliams Community House, Warren Urban League and Family Service Assn.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie I. Lafferty; a Daughter, Mrs.Richard (Phyllis) Hess of Warren; a son, Donald E. Lafferty ofGreensburg, Pa., and five grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Carl W. Hall FuneralHome. Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The family requests that material tributes take the form ofcontributions to the Trumbull County Unit of the American CancerSociety.

Funeral services for Atty. G. Howard Lafferty, 1715 Edgewood NE, wereheld Monday at 1:30 at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. The Rev. TheodoreC. Mayer officiated with burial in Pineview Memorial Park.
Members of the Trumbull County Bar Assn. attended the funeral as agroup.

Hello Jill--
I stumbled on the Amsden website last night. My mother, JosephineLamoureux Dodd of West Allis, Wisconsin, is an Amsden descendent. Hermother was Angenette Amsden and her father was Arthur Lamoureux.(Please correct the spelling of Lamoureux, at least. I'm honestly notsure how my
grandmother spelled her first name. She died in about 1935, which isquite a while before I was born.) My mother has a partial copy ofMurray Brown's 1934 book, and I have some photocopies of her copies.I'm fascinated to learn there is further documentation of the family!
I tried to E-mail the person named Patricia Lynn Roth who hasapparently contributed a lot to the Amsden site but my mail came backmarked "undeliverable".
Where do we go from here? Looking forward to hearing from you.
