Henry Tibbetts

of Dover, New Hampshire and His Descendants

The data contained here is in part the product of the publication entitled as above. It is the work of May (Tibbetts) Jarvis and Charles Wesley Tibbetts, 1942,  San Diego, California.  Though some original copies exist, the New England Historic and Genealogical Register presented the data over the course of several issues.  Roy F. Olson recompiled the data from those volumes into a book he sent me.

The notations found after some names beginning HTD gives the numeric listing of the main line person as found in the publication. Additional notes are given when specific data was obtained from other sources.

Roy Olson is the Editor of Hoyt's Issue, the publication of the Hoyt Family Association and we first became acquainted through that line. Later we discovered that we had another line common to us both, the Tibbetts.

In addition to the compilation mentioned above other sources of the Tibbetts information are: Extracts from Dover Town Records, NEHGR July 1850, Vol. 4; The History of Dover, New Hampshire, John Scales, 1923; Old Kittery & Family, Stackpole, 1903; History of Boothbay, Greene; 10th Generation Yankee, Nettie Gove Nicholson; Stearn's History of New Hampshire, 1957 Vol. 4.

Larry Fickett sent a huge file of the Fickett line that contains the marriage of his ancestor, Mary Ellen Fickett, to my ancestor Warren Ransom Tibbetts. The notations found after some names beginning F are from Larry.

Dale Durrell sent a huge file of the Durrell line that provided a link to the Tibbetts line through the Benmore and Adams lines.  Dale's main source is Descendants of Philip Durrell by Harold Clarke Durrell & edited by David Curtis Dearborn, printed in the New England Historical & Genealogical Register between October 1978 & January 1981.

As with all other compilations that I present, I make no claims as to authenticity. Other than that of my direct line, I have no proof of any data. While some of it seems plausible, I leave the responsibility of proving the truth to each person. I have source document originals and copies of some data and will gladly mail copies of these to interested individuals. When a seeming connection is made, I urge each to start digging for the real, positive, and tangible records that will make that connection reality and not mere speculation.
