William Patterson was born c 1705-6 and died 1794 aged 88 years;burial in Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Head of Christiana Creek,Delaware. He and Mary Garetson were married at Christ Church,Philadelphia, 16 May 1728. On 10 March 1729/30, John Garetssonconbeyed 143 acres in New Castle County to his daughter Mary and herhusband William Patterson, mariner. Patterson served as a LieutenantColonel in King George's war in 1747-8, was a Justice of the Peace,and sived in White Clay Creek Hundred, New Castle County. Mary wasliving 31 Dec 1760 when They executed a deed, but was dead before 27Dec 1764 when he was issued a Pensylvania marriage license to marrySusanna Williams. His will was dated 7 July and probated 17 September1794, naming wife Susanna, children and grand children WilliamParkinson, child of deceased granddaughter Catherine Hyatt and sonJohn's daughter Elizabeth -- from: "Maternal Ancestry of DorcasGardiner (Ellis) Bryant" by Miriam L.
