[15443] All data from McDowell. Jacques fled the Netherlands to Norwich,England, probably in 1567, to escape the religious and politicalpersecutions of the Inquisition and the House of Hapsburg. He and hisfamily joined the Walloon Reformed Church in Norwich, England.

Jacques' brother, Jean, was founder of the De Marees or De Marezfamilies in the Netherlands.

An excellent account of "The Walloons and Their Church at Norwich" wasfurnished by the Vice-President of the Huguenot Society of London,W.J.C. Moens, in 1888.
