The information that I have is that my ggfather Gilbert Henry Cox bornin 1832, was the son of Jacob Cox and Mehitable Russell Cox. Jacob Coxwas killed in a farm accident in New York State according to theinformation I have. I think that Gilber Henry Cox had a brother bythe name of Daniel. After Jacob Cox was killed, his widow apparentlyremarried a man by the name of Hall. My understanding is thatMehitable had two daughters. I do not know if they were Jacob'sdaughters or if they were by her second marriage. It has been myunderstanding that Mehitable Russell Cox (Cocks) was from Canada andJacob Cox (Cocks) was from Germany. Gilbert Henry Cox served in theCivil War.
From the Journal of Silas HILLMAN - " I again married another wife.Her name was Emily Ann. She was a widow with one child, a little girl.Her (Emily's) father's name was COX.. We were married in 1850 inFebruary. In October of the same year a daughter was born to us. Wenamed her Ellen Celestia."
Silas HILLMAN of Coonsville was married to Emily Ann Cox of SilverCreek on February 16 1850 at Coonville by Libeus T. Coons.Potawattamie County, Iowa Marriages pt 3 p 30.
