Elias Heustis, b 27 May 1798, who married 1. Margaret Clark 11/8/1826,2. Sarah Heustis 5/19/1831. Elias died Nov 23,1889 and is buried atWright's Corner Methodist Cemetery Sec R2w on Indiana Route 18, Eastof Wright's Corner.

The above names and dates were given to me by Caroline Yaskin whofound them on
file in the Indianapolis Library, copied from The Bible of John W.Heustis. Copy of Bible on file.
Chefalo supplied birth and marriage places as well as the 1810 FederalCensus, Thompson, Sullivan Co., NY. In Pat's e-mail of Aug 18 2002,he says -
You will note that William, Rhoda and the two girls born before 1810are all as expected. But
there's only five boys, split "2 less than ten" and "3ten-to-fifteen." By the Bible data, there should be two more in the"fifteen to twenty-five" range, Oliver and Jesse at 17 and 16. I canthink of three possible explanations: 1) they were apprenticed orlaborers elsewhere. In the 1850 NY Census for Jesse, his olderunmarried sons Townsend and Charles were not present in the household,as they were working at the Wilson (with George Jaquith!) and Wisnerfarms in the town, respectively. 2) With war on the horizon, perhapsthe older sons were being "hidden" from the government. After all oneof the objectives of the age ranges in the Census was for thegovernment to find out how many soldiers were available. 3) The familybelow has two "16-25" sons; perhaps the Census taker missed his row.
Margie Heustis notes that William appears on the 1840 Census SummittCo., OH, town of Norton and is NOT on the 1850 Census Lawrenceberg,IN. Note from McLeester - I do not think the William noted in OH isour William.

Fink notes his death is before 1850 as Rhoda was then living in INwith Oliver according to the census.
