[1734] All data from Smith. Both Jean Claude and Jean Simon wereinterpreters for the French, English, and Spanish governments to theChoctaw Nation as early as 1754. Early records reveal that Jean Simonin June 1765, was ordered to Fort Tombecbe as an armorer. Simonrefused to take the assignment, claiming ill health. Governor Johnsonordered Jean Simon arrested and confined in the guard room of Mobileas a prisoner until September. He was then sent to Pensacola as aprisoner and detained in the Governors house for several days and thenreleased.
