Note from McLeester - There are several accounts of the heritage ofNanye'hi, the Ghigua who was later referred to as Nancy Ward. Hoyt'sIssue Fall 1990 notes that a daughter of Moytoy produced Nanye'hi whowould later become the Ghigua. Data from Halley states that the IGImicrofich USA Native Americans #0002 page 18, 11th row gives adaughter of Moytoy named Na-nih as related to a male named Arch in thecontext of a marriage in 1821. Hicks supplied the data used here.Other accounts mirror some but not all of the facts or speculations..
Witt gives her birth as 1700 and does not mention her husband,Skayagustuegwo.
Hicks gives this note - "Myths of the Cherokee Indians", James Mooney,p203-204;
[Nancy Ward's] father was a British officer named Ward and her motherwas the sister of Atakullakula.
